Canada is a nation of diversity. Its
inhabitants are largely immigrants settled in the second largest country of the
world. Canada was initially inhabited by First Nation Tribes and was later
taken over by the French and British. Throughout its history , the country has
been influenced by Europe, especially the British and the French. Till date,
French is the official language of Canada. The beauty, diversity and wildlife
of Canada is well known and extremely diverse. It is covered by the Atlantic,
Pacific and Atlantic Ocean , and its topography varies from mountains to
forests, endless prairies and even deserts. Its largest cities are vibrant and
cosmopolitan. Most of the Canadian population reside in the cities. The culture includes various artistic,
literary, humour , musical and social elements.
Canada is divided into 10 provinces and 3
territories. Canadians are one of the largest meat consumers in the world, and
meat dominates the culinary in Canada. The most famous dishes include bacon,
nainamo bars, beaver tail, maple syrup, poutine, salmon, Canadian apples, etc.
Education System of Canada – A brief overview
Canada does not have a national common educational system. Instead, each jurisdiction of the 10 provinces and 3 territories govern and set the education system. So, Canada’s education system is not the same all over the country. Admissions, fees, programs and courses vary from one institute to another. As in many other countries, Canada follows two basic requirements to before allowing international students to study in their institutions :
1)Confirmed admission in a recognised institution.
2)Application and approval of Student Visa.
Even though the country does not follow a national education system, each province or territory is known to have high standards of Education. A forum for education ministers for the discussion of matters related to Education known as Council of Ministers of Education also exists in the country, which has a high rate of post education in the world. 6 out of 10 adults have completed some form of post education.
Visa Procedure – What When and How
As we have already mentioned above , you need the Confirmation of Admission from a recognised institution of your choice before applying for a Student Visa. Since this is a long procedure, it is advised you begin applying six months prior to the days of commencement of the academic session. Choose an appropriate institution, course and subjects according to your interest. Make sure the institution is recognised by the Government of Canada.
1.Visa and Student Authorization Procedure
Complete with all the application requirements, you must send your Visa Application to the Canadian High Commission. Remember that the documents you submit should be either originals or notarized photocopies , and be accompanied by a duplicate copy.
2.Documents Required :
Remember that you need to submit all these documents for your visa to get processed. If you fail to do so, your visa application may b rejected.
•Completed Student Application form.
•Completed Supplementary Questionnaire for students and postdoctoral researchers.
•Official letter of acceptance from Canadian university, college or Technical Institute.
•Certificate of Acceptance from the province of Quebec (Only if you plan to study in province of Quebec)
•TOEFL/IELTS scores if applicable
• Birth certificate or notarized affidavit for the date of birth
•School/college certificates and mark sheets
•Employment letter showing duration of work
•Proof of current activity
•Two photographs on matt paper of a specific size
•Passport, valid for at least one year from the planned date of entry to Canada, plus valid passports of any accompanying dependants
•Bank Draft for the applicable visa processing fees.
•You must have a clean criminal record.
•Visa fees will be 150 Cdn or in Rs.7850
3.Evidence of Funds
You must be able to prove that you have enough funding to financially support your tuition fee and living in Canada. If you are applying without a dependant, you must show that you have at least 10,000 Cdn plus the cost of your tuition fee for a 12 month period, along with the cost of your ticket to Canada. This 10,000 is the base amount considered to over the expenses of a student , but may vary from city to city, some being more expensive.
You must be able to provide a detailed statement of your bank account of last six months prior to your visa application. OR
If you have got a scholarship, show the official confirmation and details of the same.
4.Interview
An interview may take place. You will be notified about the time and venue of the same. The questions asked will b only related to the rules and regulations of Canada.
5.Medical Examination
Like most countries, Canada has a medical protocol to follow. You must undergo a medical test as per the Commission’s standards to show you are medically fit.
