A Brief Introduction:
Commonly referred to as UBC, the University of British Columbia is a public research and education institution in British Columbia, Canada. Founded as the McGill University College of British Columbia in 1908, it was finally given independent status and renamed as the University of British Columbia in 1915. It is ranked as Canada’s 3rd best institution and in the top 20 worldwide public Universities by the U.S. News and World Report and Times Higher Education. It is the 1st Fair Trade Campus of the country and boasts to be Canada’s 1st Gold in the STARS sustainability rating system. It is highly renowned for its research institutes and teaching.
Campus
Spreading across an area of 400 hectares, the campus is surrounded by lush forests and is 30 minutes away from Vancouver’s core centre. It is located on territory that is traditionally owned by Musqueam people, and has been on the same site since its establishment more than 100 years back. It consists of two campuses which are:

SCHOLARSHIPS
The University offers two types of
scholarships to international students based on their merit. These are:
1. International Major Entrance
Scholarship: These are for undergraduate students who enter for their first
year of study in the University. The amount given is 40,000 CAD, payable at up
to $10,000 CAD per year for 4 years. Students will receive their amount in
their first year and the scholarship can be renewed in the next years. The
exact number and level of scholarships varies each year, depending on available
funding.
2. Outstanding International Student Award:
This is a onetime scholarship awarded to students who have been reviewed on the
basis of their Grades and Personal Profiles. OIS amounts range from $2,500 to
$10,000 CAD.
