The education sector of India has been a point of concern for quite a long time. Whether it is because of improper management or lack of vision, education system in India is not what it should be. There are a lot of people who suggest changing the education system but when it comes to the execution nothing gets implemented. Many students score high marks and get admission in reputed institutions like IITs and IIMs but still the standard of education is not up to the mark.
Alarming problems in the education system
Studying for getting good marks is spreading like a plague. Students just aim in cracking exams like AIIMS, IIT JEE and CLAT. Everyone now chooses to become an engineer or a doctor and then find a job to just settle down. Except for some of the reputed universities the standard of education in other colleges and institutes are terrible and the students now do not even have high ambitions. Not only the standard of education but also the cost of pursuing a higher course crumbles the student and their families. Politics and corruption entering the system are the main causes of these problems.
Focusing on education based on skills
In Indian education system the focus is on testing the knowledge that is imparted at every level. So the knowledge that the students acquire is all forgotten after the exams. The system also awards those who can memorize the teaching efficiently. But this is not helpful in the long run. The students must be taught the skills in a proper way so that it remains with them for the lifetime. Learners having original thinking, creativity and innovation must be awarded.
Selecting smarter people as teachers
Teachers can be considered as the architect of a student's career. They play a very vital role. But looking into the present scenarios it can easily be concluded that people choose this teaching profession only because they can earn money easily and that too without any risk and pressure. In doing so they are even ready to spoil the future of their students. The time has come to encourage a new breed of teachers who are smarter and who worship this profession. The teaching positions must be held by entrepreneurs and leaders.
Technological infrastructure should be implemented
Technological advancement in the education system of India will surely have a positive impact on the students. It will open a new dimension for the students. The delivery of knowledge to the students can be improved with this small step. The entire world is now connected through the internet. This medium can be utilized in the education sector too. So the revolution can be brought with tools like high speed internet connection, tablets and computers.
Allowing the entry of private capital
As India has a huge population so it is not possible for the government to provide higher education to all of its students. 4% of the budget is spent on education still it is insufficient. So the government must think about allowing private capital to enter the education system. There are several successful private institutes like IIPM who provide quality education as they have creative structuring and they are well maintained.
