Of late, the Indian government has been liberally pumping huge financial aids and technology into the education sector. This step comes as a supplement to the effort of giving a much needed facelift to the entire education system in India. Generous budgetary allotments along with fresh technical projects, ventures and developments are rapidly creating a heavy tech savvy environment in the entire education system.
Meanwhile, the technology companies of India have showed great foresight and are plunging into this field to cash in the opportunities. Dozens of companies lie eagerly in wait for their chances to tap in the recent developments and help themselves in the process.
Computer and technical hardware providers, educational software developers as well as technical trainers, teachers and content providers are sensing it as a financial boom in their respective sector. As the government puts its pedal on the gas to take education beyond the boundaries of cities and towns, to be occurring expenditures are luring them like bees.
“India spends 2500 billion rupees in the education sector and it constantly continues to average a healthy double digit growth every year. Unfortunately, roughly 5% of that amount is technology enable in nature,” Harish Chitale the CEO of HCL Infosystems said.
Seconding the thoughts of Mr. Harish Chitale, the famous technology market researcher IDC has conclusively said, “There exists a 2400 billion rupee IT market in India consisting of hardware, software, technical and IT services out of which only 5% is based on the education sector. The market of this sector is believed and expected to continue its growth at 12% annually till the year 2017.”
In spite of splurging huge money on education, the technical component of that remains a worrying factor compared to the current global scenario. Out of the 270 billion rupees allotted to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the current fiscal year, only 50 lakh rupees per district has been allotted for computer aided education and training. But slowly but surely the mindset is changing for the betterment of the system and bring in the technically aided aspects of education.
Presently this system is vastly concentrated in the private education sector located mostly in cities and towns. The positive results and generous feedbacks thus garnered have thus created a good opportunity for the further sustained implementation of the system on an even larger scale. The new educational focus has shifted to attaining education with the assistance to technology and also getting friendly with it in the process.
Reputed companies like Cisco, Intel, IBM, HCL, Accenture and many more have already forayed into this field to make the most of the upcoming opportunities. They have utilized their technical skills and state of the art infrastructure to convert education into a cherishable feat for the students as well as their guardians.
The further development of the scheme will also see the upliftment of education in the nation. Not only will education be more readily and easily available, it will also increase its credibility and variety in the meanwhile. The role played by technology companies will indeed turn out to be a boon for the nation as a whole.
