Seeing the mismanagement and unavailability of the NCERT books, the government is now revamping its efforts regarding the distribution of the NCERT books. In order to make sure that NCERT books are available to all, the government is planning to launch an online portal for the NCERT books.
With this move, the government is trying to make sure that parents are able to save huge sum money as books of private publishers are very costly. It will also help the parents in saving the huge delivery charges which are levied by the e-commerce sellers.
According to the reports, the decision of opening an online portal is not final and chances are that NCERT may collaborate with popular e-commerce marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart.
The new move if, implemented effectively will help in cutting the shortage of the NCERT books down and will help the parents in saving huge sums of money on annual basis.
As mentioned in India today reports "the maximum price of a NCERT textbook is Rs. 50 and that of private publishers is as high as Rs. 300. Close to 13 crore textbooks are used by students every year which would amount to 3900 crore rupees if purchased from private publishers".
Lately, many attempts have been made by the NCERT to maintain the availability of the books in the market and the government's initiative to stop the practice of following the books of the private publisher in CBSE affiliated schools received a warm welcome from the parents and students. However, the move largely received criticism from private publishers.
