Ever since PM Modi led the International Yoga Day celebrations from the Rajpath, Yoga has been in the news for multiple reasons. There were even talks of Yoga being made mandatory in schools and colleges. The legislature on Thursday said there is no arrangement to make instructing of yoga obligatory at all the instructive establishments in the nation.
On the other hand, it said that yoga is a subject alongside physical and wellbeing instruction for schools subsidiary to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
"No. On the other hand, yoga is one of the subjects alongside physical and wellbeing instruction, and is likewise included as a component of the physical movement in all schools subsidiary to CBSE the nation over," said Shripad Naik, the Union AYUSH minister.
He further expressed that yoga is likewise included as one of the units under physical training educational program at the senior auxiliary level.
In addition, University Grants Commission has educated that yoga has been incorporated in the modules on the wellbeing, sustenance, wellness and general prosperity in all courses at the under-graduate and post-graduate level while confining the amended XIIth Plan rules on the plan of improvement of games base and gear at colleges and schools, he said.
"Instruction is a simultaneous subject and state governments direct the schools inside of their purview (furthermore) create and recommend their own educational module," Naik said.
