A wrongly given address on admit cards for the exam of Amin conducted by Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), held last Monday, sparked a huge commotion in Nawabganj, as over 300 candidates protested the wrong address information in their admit cards, which cost their efforts to go downhill.
What went wrong?
Many candidates were dumbfounded when they discovered their exam centre at Gulab Rao Memorial Higher Secondary School, in Nawabganj, unattended and unprepared for the event. The exam was supposed to be held at the Bareilly school with the same name, but the admit cards carried a Nawabganj address.
Angered by the irresponsible mistake, several candidates who hailed from distant places decided to march towards the residence of SDM Archana Dwivedi in order to inform her of their grievances.
One Nagendra Singh from Ghaziabad, who had come for the exam said, "We came as early as 8 am only to find that no preparations had been made at the centre to conduct the exam. Most of us were clueless as to what to do next and where to lodge a complaint regarding this."
Promise of remedial steps
In order to clarify the mismatch on the admit card, Archana Dwivedi said, "There is a school with the same name in Bareilly city where the exam was to be held. However, due to some error, the admit card carries the address of the school in Nawabganj." It is learnt that the commission had then collected the admit card of the aggrieved aspirants to conduct a separate exam following the agitation.
