M Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, has asked the universities to ensure the continuity of the academic calendar during the lock-down period.
He was interacting with the Vice Chancellors of Delhi, Puducherry, Punjab, Makhanlal Chaturvedi Universities and Director of the Indian Institute of Public Administration through a video conference and said that it may take some time before everything goes normal post COVID-19 pandemic and also enquired about their plans to cope with the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He promoted collaborative learning and self-learning.
He also urged the universities to utilize the tools and technologies to promote learning and teach students through distance education.
Since COVID-19 adversity has forced people to search for creative solutions, the Vice President was happy that the teaching domain was not that affected. He also stressed that universities and educational institutes must safeguard the students who are staying at hostels.
He said that universities should guide the students so that they can take advantage of the e-learning platforms provided by universities and government.
