With the states being given a free hand at choosing whether they wish to go with NEET this year or their own entrance exam, the students are now anxiously waiting for their respective state governments to take the final call.
In this regard, the medical aspirants in the state of Uttar Pradesh have finally got a much needed relief after the state government announced that it would with the 2nd phase of the objective type NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) which would be held on 24th July across the entire country.
Hence, there will not be any UP CMT (Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Test) this year for the students and all the admissions to the state medical colleges would be given on the basis of the students' performance in the NEET exam.
The principal secretary of medical education in the state, Anup Chandra Pandey was quoted saying, "It has been decided to go with NEET for admissions to state run MBSS and dental colleges. For admissions to courses under AYUSH, a notification would be issued soon,"
The decision from the government comes at a great time for the students and would help them in clearing their mind and continuing their preparation whole heartedly. The confusion regarding NEET arose after the central government brought an ordinance to postpone the NEET exam until the next year and allow the states to exclude themselves from the NEET and carry on their own state entrance tests for admissions to medical and dental colleges.
