Out of the total teachers assigned in the evaluation of 10th and 12th standard board mark sheets of the UP board, nearly 35% have not get their dues till now. Till now the board has completed all preparation for the evaluation of answer sheets of this year but evaluators have refused to check the answer sheets until the payment was received.
The state minister declared that the payment would be made before the commencement of the board examination this year after teachers declared the strike. To ensure the teachers, the minister also announced that the rate of evaluation for this year would be increased. Now the teachers would get Rs 6 copy examined for class 10, instead of Rs 4. The teachers who evaluate the class 12th examination copy would now get Rs 7 instead of Rs 4.50.
After the 14 days of deadline the state education department has not cleared the total amount of teachers.
According to the data collected by the UP board, around 1,31,000 teachers are assigned for the evaluation work across the state this year. Around 44,000 teachers have not got their payment. Along with teachers the center-in-charges also get their dues at the rate of Rs 65 per day.
Commenting on the state of affairs, president of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Sikshak Sevak Sangh (UPMSSS) and Member of Legislative Council Chetnarayan Singh said, "Now onus is on the state government to ensure that the evaluation work takes place at right time. We have already put forward our demand and if it is not fulfilled then we have to resort to agitation and boycott of the evaluation process."
He also added that inspite of promises made by its ministry, the state government should release the amount pending.
