The latest offering for children from TERI Press published under their children's imprint Terrapin, Get Well Soon, was released at an event at The Millennium School, Noida organized to celebrate Earth Day. This new series of non-fiction knowledge books for children provides essential information to children and their parents on the various environment-related causes of allergies, stomach problems, fever, and injuries and methods of preventing these ailments. Even though these books are relevant for the age group 6-8, the knowledge contained in them is relevant to one and all.
Unveiling this series of four fully illustrated books packed with knowledge, the Director Principal Ms Rita Kaul said, "These wonderful repositories of knowledge are a must for every child. Not only children, but their parents particularly should read them so that they acquire knowledge for preventing these ailments from affecting their children."
The launch of the Get Well Soon series was an integral part of a series of activities held by TERI Press as part of a day-long celebration of Earth Day at the school. The celebration was kick started with the screening of the film, The Story of a Red Dot for students followed by a discussion on the issues raised by the film. The action then moved to an Illustration Workshop for classes 6-9 after which the students participated with great enthusiasm in an Illustration Competition.
The Illustration Competition saw the children producing some fantastic art work with the aim of creating symbols and icons of environmental conservation. While Urooj Rahmani from Class 9 won the first prize, Yuthika Sharma (Class 7) was awarded the second prize. Nikita Thakur of Class 8 bagged the third prize. A consolation prize was given away to Amrit from Class 7. Yashasvi (Class 6) and Sarang (Class 8), students with special needs, were given special prizes for their efforts. The celebrations came to a close with the students pledging their undying support to the cause of environmental conservation.
