The Delhi HC questioned the Directorate of Education's decision and asked the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) to cancel the exam for the recruitment of more than 8900 teachers for the government schools in Delhi.
The exam was conducted on the October 29 across various centers. However, there were reports of cheating and question paper was leaked on the Facebook. According to the reports, the exam papers were leaked on the day of examination.
A petitioner filed a complaint stating that at 3:10 pm, during the written test, one solved question paper was uploaded on the Facebook page of Dilli Atithi Shikshak Sangh.
A bench of justices Siddharth Mridul and Deepa Sharma further directed the DSSSB to conduct the exam again at the earliest so that the vacancies can be filled.
The Delhi government's education department reacted on the court's directive and said 'if an advertisement is issued, as directed by the single judge, then the 14,000 guest teachers presently employed in its schools would be demoralized and it could affect the children.'
The judge has asked the authorities to issue fresh advertisement calling for applications from eligible candidates by December 21 which shall be received latest by January 31.
