On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party
government told the high court that there was more than sufficient number of
teachers in the schools aided by the government.
The government also told the HC bench
compromising of Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed & Ashutosh Kumar that the
student teacher ratio in the government aided schools is much better. The
prescribed student teacher ratio is 35:1 but in the schools aided by the government
this ration is 33.9:1, which is much better.
In an affidavit filed to the HC,
the government said that “In the year 2015-16, the total number of students in
the government aided schools was 1, 60,909 and the total number of teachers were
4,745.
The government also put forth
that the post fixation has also addressed by them. Post fixation is necessary
for distribution of teachers in various government schools to maintain the
student teacher ratio. The government said “earlier the exercise for the post
fixation was not being done, but since 2014 it has been carried out and would
continue in future as well.”
The affidavit was put forth HC,
for a PIL filed which claimed that there was inadequate number of teachers in
the government aided schools and the post fixation exercise was not being
carried out. The court disposed off the PIL after the filing of the affidavit.
