The students of JRE school of Engineering have successfully secured approval for their innovative in- house project by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE). The project called "Abiot "is an invention of two first year students of JRE Saurabh kumar Ariyan and Nikhil Anmol Kumar. They participated in The IEEE All India Young Engineers' Humanitarian Challenge which presents students across India with a unique opportunity to prepare and work on projects that focus on a humanitarian problem. The project "abiot" was selected from the JRE School of Engineering making it one of the 23 selected from all across India.
Once projects are approved the successful students develop technical solutions to the problems with support and funding from the IEEE.
The project 'abiot' is a robotic platform which can find its way through agricultural fields and detect or attract particular types of pest and eliminate those using electromechanical means. The project aims to repel or trap most aerial pests which primarily affect fruit crops. This process assists farmers and consumers by preserving the quality of the soil and by reducing human intake of by-products which are introduced into the food chain through the use of chemical pesticides.
Speaking on the achievement Mr. Harpreet Singh, Presidents JRE group of Institutions expressed" it is a very proud moment for everybody at JRE. Being part of IEEE is a very prestigious matter. Hope to see more such achievements in future."
