On Saturday, the ministry of Human Resource Development
(HRD) signed a memorandum of understanding for establishing three Indian
Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) in Ranchi, Nagpur and Pune. It was
signed with private companies so that the setting up takes place in public-private
partnership (PPP) mode.
According to a statement released, that these institutes be
set up in collaboration among state governments, industry, and the Centre. The
expectation with this collaboration is to bring out high quality IT manpower
for building up IT industry.
The memorandum of
understanding (MoU) was signed by Vinay Sheel Oberoi, Secretary Department of
Higher Education in HRD Ministry with big private players such as Tata
Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, M/s ADCC Infocad, Nagpur and M/s Hubtown,
Mumbai.
An official statement said that with this collaboration, the
total number of IIT's on PPP mode has rose up to 16. There are 4 ore that are
scheduled to be setup in the month of January 2016.
IIT- Ranchi through JEE 2016 examination would be admitting
120 students for the year 2016-17. It will operate from the Old Judicial Academy
in the Administrative Training Institute, Ranchi.
. IIT Ranchi would be monitored by NIT- Jamshedpur and its
curriculum will be developed by its partners- TCS and Tata Motors. They have
committed participation for developing curriculum according to industry
requirements.
With the involvement and participation of M/s ADCC Infocad
and TCS, IIIT-Nagpur will be set up on BMIT Campus (temporary campus). However,
for setting up a permanent campus, government of Maharashtra has identified 88
acres of land.
BMIT has proposed to be a mentor institution for IIT-Nagpur.
It will admit through JEE-2016 examination, about 120 students in CSE and ECE
branches.
Similar to
IIT-Nagpur, IIT Pune will function temporarily from Siddhant Engineering
College. However, for setting up a permanent campus, state government has
identified 100 acres of land at Chakan.
Also, its industry partners M/s Hubtown Mumbai and M/S
Roltas will be developing its curriculum and institute will be mentored by College
of Engineering (COE) Pune. It will admit 120 students through JEE-2016.
