The grand prize of the first 'Accenture Innovation Challenge' was won by the students from IIT-KGP, who developed a sleep assistant. Sleep assistant monitor sleeping pattern remotely through a wireless device.
The competition was organized by the global professional service provider Accenture. Otherwinnerteams in the competition were from Dronacharya Group of Institution, Noida, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, IIT Roorkee, Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, Bhimavaram and IIT Madras.
The main aim of the challenge was to inspire design and innovation among the youth of the college and the competition witnessed the participation of more than 13,000 students which were representing 900 colleges from across the nation.
"Participants submitted over 7,000 innovation ideas," said Mohan Sekhar, Senior Managing Director, Accenture Technology Services. The participants participated whole heartedly and demonstrated the innovative uses of technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Cloud, Mobility and Analytics.
Sleep monitor uses live monitoring system which is used to track the heart beat and beating rates of the sleeping person and is capable of alerting the nearest doctor if there happens to be any anomalies in these parameters. Another winning team from Dronacharya Group of Institution showcased 'BinBot'-- a robot which can be used for waste management.
The team from IIT-Roorkee showcased SNAP which can be used to help the farmers in increasing their farm yields, optimize the spending and increase their income by addressing the problem of soil acidification.
Other teams also displayed various innovate deigns and innovations in the competition.
