According to the latest order arising out of the general board meeting of Gujarat secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, the teachers who go for the purpose of evaluation of answer sheets would have to mandatorily spend six hours at the centre.
Earlier, a number of voices said that the teachers usually pack up just after correcting 30 answer sheets. This new decision would ensure that the teachers give ample time to the answer sheet rather than hurrying through to complete the correction.
The board also asked its members for suggestions to improve class XII science's semester system examinations. The members were of the view that this system has put high pressure on the students by making them study for two years. It has also given a lifeline to the coaching classes.
According to the board's secretary, RI Patel, these suggestions would improve the overall system. He said that the board decided not to fall back to only class 12th examination.
In the meeting, the board also cleared a budget of Rs 112 crore for the financial year of 2015-16.
