Students of classes I and II of government schools in MP now have a reason to smile as their next annual report card will have smileys instead of grades. In an attempt to promote the learning in fear free atmosphere, the Rajya Shiksha Kendra (RSK), or State Education Centre, has asked the school to introduce the change from this year.
However, the progress cards of the students from Class III to VII will follow the old pattern. A circular regarding the same has been circulated to district education officers, district project coordinators, additional commissioner of tribal development department, and principals of district education and training institutes.
As a result of the change, nearly 16 students of classes I and II will get their report cards with smileys. Following is what the number of smileys on the report card will mean:
- 3 smileys: achieved efficiency
- 2 smileys: students is at the learning stage
- 1 smiley: needs more effort
In the new report cards, smileys will be there and the teacher will be required to mark the appropriate number of smiles representing the efficiency of each student.
