At the IIT Kharagpur convocation, Infosys co-founder K Gopalakrishnan was invited to grace the occasion of students of the institute graduating.
During the event he spoke about the amazing growth of Indian economy and how the company has failed in provision of jobs to the talented youth of the country. He said, "Although Indian economy is growing well but we have failed to provide enough jobs. Of late, especially after the meltdown of financial sector in 2008, the world is seeing increase in income disparity. India is less affected since we have an economy that is still growing strongly. But we are not seeing large number of good, well paying jobs being created."
He also mentioned this issue as "troubling" while he added, "It is important for scientists and engineers to study the negative aspects of technology fully before the technology is deployed in large scale. We are at the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution. New and emerging technologies like the 'Internet of Things' are going to change the world in the next 30-50 years. Considering the example of reckless drivers, if they are used without proper safeguards or if they are used for destructive purposes they can cause immense harm."
At the end he mentioned the disadvantages or harmful side effects or uses of some of the technologies and innovations. Brainbuxa will keep you posted on such news and views across the nation. Don't forget to keep logging in Brainbuxa for more.
