PVR Nest, the CSR arm and registered foundation of PVR Ltd. launches a new edition of its flagship program CineArt 'Aqua' on the issue of 'Water conservation & recovery'. This award winning program converges the powerful mediums of Cinema, Films and Art and has become an alternate education medium to build children's capacities on critical issues.
The program was launched at Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10 at Dwarka with the 50 school coming together for a full- fledged intensive orientation and knowledge session through creative mediums on the theme through powerful theatre performances by children from Ryan International School (Gurgaon), films on water and expert presentations.
Water is a pre- condition to life. This campaign through its clear and sustainable communication on the issue and emphasizing on the fact that with growing population, ever increasing consumption and other risk factors, this programme will inculcate 'Responsible Water leadership' and enable children from 50 schools to become role models, lead action and bring out a positive change in the society using path breaking and innovative mediums like films, theatre and interactive presentations. During this program, short listed children will be trained on making their own original 'Water' films and publication. After the program culmination in March'2013, the most popular three films will run at selected PVR Cinemas pan India.
This program will also reach out to thousands of people through its mass online social channels like Facebook and blogs.
Trident Controls Pvt. Ltd., Aqua Foundation and PVR Nest have come together for the first time for this mass scale alternate education campaign.
On the occasion, Ms Deepa Menon, Vice President- Corporate Social Responsibility at PVR Limited said "We are all witness to our country's development that is taking place at the expense of increasing urbanization putting severe pressure on important resources like water. As stakeholders in the country's progress, all business houses like us have now a bigger task in hand - the issue of urban sustainability. Here in PVR, we consider ourselves fortunate enough to address this issue through access to a mass medium reaching out to over 28 million people visiting our cinemas spread in 13 states & 27 cities. PVR Nest, PVR's social arm has been able to develop a sustainable communication model through 'CineArt' to create mass scale awareness among school children on understanding & handling critical sustainability issues facing us today be it Environment & Nature, Health or Road Safety. Throughout the last 4 years of its implementation, CineArt has been able to reach out to over 250 schools (NGO/ Community/ Public and Private) and 1, 00,000 children and has trained over 1500 children on film making.
