On Friday, Chief Miniter Arvind Kejriwa said that the government schools in the Delhi were deteriorated on purpose before AAP government came to power and that his government has taken effective steps to check the privatization in the education. Arvind Kejriwas was present at the launch event of a web portal for the ‘Loan Guarantee Scheme and Scholarshipʼ at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
Kejriwal argued that his government has brought revolutionary changes in the education and said 'Earlier, government schools were deliberately being deteriorated in a systematic manner. The entire education sector — be it primary, secondary, colleges and technical — was moving towards privatisation. Fees were so high that the common man could not afford it. Since we came to power, we have changed the wave of privatization of education.'
He further added 'When honest politics and people came to Delhi (government), principals and teachers did a wonderful job in the last two- and-a-half years, due to which Class XII results of government schools were better than that of private schools this year.'
Under the scheme, Delhi Education Trust will fully or partially reimburse the tution fee of the students. The reimbursement will be done under three categories: 100 per cent, 50 per cent or 25 per cent depending on the social and economic background of the student.
