New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of New Delhi has
directed the Education department to prepare a proposal to increase the salaries
of all guest teachers irrespective of whether they have cleared the Central
Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or not.
Prior to this the department had put forth a proposal to
increase the salaries of all guest teachers who have cleared the CTET. However
the CM directed to also include non-CTET guest teachers in the proposal.
The department will now re table the proposal in the next
cabinet meeting, after the inclusion of non-CTET teachers.
Sources say that the government plans to increase the salaries
of the guest teachers from the present Rs17, 000-19,000 to Rs 32,000-34,000.
There are about 15,000 guest teachers across the National
Capital teaching in 1025 government schools.
