In order to give admission to students of economically weaker sections of the society, the education department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been conducting admissions through the lottery system at various schools.
After the third round of lottery was conducted on August 24, only 891 eligible candidates of the 3,800 were given the admission.
Report details:
- As per reports, more than 1,000 seats were recorded allotted. But, later on, it was indicated that many candidates were allotted seats in more than one school
- In the third round, 2,900 candidates were not allotted seats as they selected those schools where all the seats have been filled up
- Around 2,400 have completed all the admission formalities after the first and second round of lottery was held
- Meanwhile, 10 schools were not considered for the third round. Now, a special selection procedure will be carried out for them soon
While commenting on this, Deputy Director of Education B B Chavan said, "These schools have not completed the online formalities of marking the exact number of admitted students and the number of pending admissions."
