NEW DELHI: The current system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) that was introduced in 2011 in lieu of the Class X board examinations are here to stay for some time. There had been apprehensions about the reintroduction of the mandatory class X examinations. However, the general acceptance of the CCE by the schools and the students has made the ministry of Human Resource Development to keep the system in place for some more time.
There is a general opinion that the weekly tests have made the students work on their curriculum. However, the ministry is encouraging the schools to come up with more effective ways to make the system more competitive. The flaws in the system that make it more of a copy paste system of completing projects have also come to the notice of the HRD. The revaluation of the seven year old system is long due.
Mrs. Smriti Irani, Hon Minister, HRD on Monday wrote to the State Education Ministers to suggest ways to overcome the flaws in the existing system of CCE in order to make the system more towards perfection. Steps are also being taken to make the system a little easier for the students belonging to lower economic classes to carry out with regular projects. The ministry would hold a meeting with the stakeholders shortly to review the system.
