The rankings by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) have been announced by the body for various categories namely, engineering, management, medical, law, architecture and others.
In the category of engineering colleges, IIT-Madras bagged the first rank in the nation followed by the IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. This year, IIT-KGP slipped down one position as compared to the last year's position.
The list of the top engineering colleges of the nation was released by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar.
IIT Madras was the top engineering college in the nation, according to the NIRF rankings, in 2017 and 2016 as well.
