Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education stressed on the fact that the congregation of the new initiatives from the AICTE and National Academy of Engineers (INAE) will encourage the students to innovate. Anil Sahasrabudhe was speaking on the center’s move to encourage the innovation among the students at the 2nd Indian National Academy of Engineers Youth conclave at the IIT Kharagpur.
He said that several schemes have been initiated by the AICTE to improve the laboratory infrastructure of the institutions. He also said that the research fellows will be given travel grant in order to help them present their research papers at various conferences.
He also talked about the Smart India Hackathon and said that it was aimed at solving the challenging problems of different departments and ministries b engaging the young minds of the nation in the worlds largest open innovation model. The AICTE chief said, “Many countries such as Canada, Australia, South Korea and Singapore have shown a keen interest in participating under this banner. Certainly, these exercises help bring awareness and fundamental skills among students and help build the foundation for future innovation and skill development.”
Students from different institutes competed under different sections and made their final presentations on August 11-12.
The team from IIT-KGP lifted the first prize for ‘Town Planning’. IIT KGP Director Partha Pratim Chakrabarti said “this era is the time of convergence where people from different sectors work together to solve complex problems for technical and social excellence.”
