Recently,
UGC suggested that new academic session 2020-21 should commence in September
and the academic calendar of 2nd and 3rd year students should
commence from August 1.
The
commission suggested that admissions for the fresh academic session should
happen between August 1- August 31. The odd semester exams for the new academic
session can be held between January 1 and January 25 and for the even semester,
exams should commence from January 27.
Summer
vacation for 2020-21 will be from July 1 to July 31 and the next academic
session will commence from August 2, 2021.
UGC has also
asked the universities to follow six-days week pattern to compensate for the
loss of studies. Along with this UGC also asked the universities to develop
virtual classrooms and train all teacher in using the technology.
"In
order to overcome such challenges in future, the faculty should be adequately
trained for the use of ICT and online teaching tools, so that they complete
about 25% of the syllabus through online teaching and 75% syllabus through face
to face teaching," says UGC.
