The ongoing class 10 Board examinations have obtained an extensive notice as many students have been caught cheating in the examination. Also the parents and friends of the students have a played a part in helping the students. Television footage has gone viral that shows the parents and friends passing the cheat sheets to the student.
About two dozen parents were caught assisting their children in the examinations and detained. They were released hours later. Such instances have been witnessed many times but none has been sent to jail.
Owing to this 600 high school students have been expelled.
The pressure of passing the examinations for pursuing further education is experienced massively by the students and so many resort to cheat by taking in text books or scraps of paper. About 1.4 million students from 1,200 high schools are appearing for the examination across the state.
PK Shahi, Bihar's education minister expressing his concerns said that fair education is absolutely impossible without parent's cooperation.
He also informed that about 6 million parents and other people come along with the students and it is not possible to keep a check on all.
Even though police has been posted outside the schools by the state authorities but the parents cannot be compelled to leave. The Bihar police has been ordered to curb all such activities for ensuring a fair examination by the court.
Also in four examination centres, examinations have been cancelled after the reports of cheating were received. If students are caught cheating they will be not be able to appear in the exam upto three years and will have to pay a fine.
They might be even sent to jail in some cases.
