The Department of Science & Technology has extended the Long Term Core Support to 17 science & technology based field groups in addition to individual project support in non-farm as well as farm sector. This would be focused on application of S&T inputs and also develop technology models for rural application to benefit rural artisans, small & marginal farmers and other weaker sections of the society.
The Science & Society Programme of the Department of Science & Technology promotes research, development and adaptation of technology for improving quality of life of people belonging to weaker sections, especially in rural areas.
Several popular programmes on Non Edible Oils; Telemedicine application; mountain regions are continued to be supported. A web portal was also developed and launched covering information on issues related to S&T interventions for elderly populations.
