Central Board of Education (CBSE) announced the ranking list for Joint Entrance exam 2016 (JEE) for the mains. These rankings will now help candidates to secure admissions in NIT's and other Institutes of the country.
According to the list, Delhi resident Deepanshu Jindal topped the IIT-JEE Main 2016 followed by Pratyush Mani and Rajesh Bansal on second and third position respectively. The rankings in the list were calculated as JEE Main score carried 60 per cent weightage and Class 12 scores had 40 percent weightage. At an approximate, 11.28 lakh students had appeared for the IIT JEE Main exam. Ryali Gaythri from Telangana secured 11th rank and was the topper among girls. A total of 853 boys secured positions in top 1000 whereas the rest 147 positions by the girls. As per the statistics, CBSE students have performed better than the state board students.
Admissions in various colleges for the courses like BE and B.Tech in engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs across the nation are made on the basis of these rankings. A senior official told the results were announced in advance as compared to the last year.
