State education department of Jammu and Kashmir was directed
today by the government to introduce new technology-driven initiatives in the
educational institutions. This will lead to improvement in the quality of
teaching and learning.
"J&K government has started setting new standards in
state's education sector", a statement was made by Priya Sethi, Minister of
state for Information, Education and Culture. She visited the rural and border
schools.
During her visit to various schools in district Samba, she
interacted with the functionaries of the Education Department. In order to
ensure that the students of J&K can compete with their counterparts in
other states of the country, government is ensuring that various measures are
initiated. This will transform the education sector.
To improve the quality of teaching and learning, initiatives
like smart classrooms, Model Schools, Cluster Universities and other such
measures are going to go a long way, confirmed Priya.
The minister took stock of the facilities in educational
institutions, during her visit in Samba. This included the quality of mid-day
meals being checked by her which is given to the students.
GHSS Boys Samba, GHSS
Girls Samba, Government Middle School Kehli Mandi, Government Middle School
Budwani and Government High School Diani were inspected by Sethi during her
visit.
Stress upon developing good reading and writing skills where
laid by her when she interacted with students and staff members.
CEO of GHSS Girls Samba was inquired by the minister about
what steps are being taken to make it a model school.
The minister directed its principal to install internet
connection in school.
The condition of GMS Boys Kehli Mandi was poor as it needed
repairs. The minister took note of it and directed for the repairs.
She asked village education committees for effective
monitoring of the local schools as she interacted with members of village
education committee of Govt High School Diani.
