The Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani furnished the following information today in the Rajya Sabha.
The following numbers constitute the recorded data as a part of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) till 30th September - 2014.

As part of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, as many as 19.85 lakh teacher posts have been sanctioned which has highly improved the present pupil teacher ratio in the schools across the country. Of the total vacancies, about 15.06 lakh posts have been filled.
The centre also provides complete support to the UTs and states in the form of free textbooks to the kids, a couple of uniform sets to all the girls, below poverty line and SC/ST boys. These resources are provided through the Cluster Resource Centre and Block Resource Centre.
