On the auspicious day of August 6, 2016 the new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) will be inaugurated by Mr.Prakash Javadekar. He is Union Minister for Human Resource and Development.
Replying to the debate which is going on the bill Mr. Javadekar said "IITs are the centre of excellence and they will continue to remain like that. "We will not allow anything that will lower their standards. Actually we all should try to improve them further and make them really world class institutes. Therefore, quality is absolutely important."
He further added, ''A total of 90 students have been enrolled at IIT Jammu-30 each in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering for the academic session.''
The construction for the new campus will began soon which will spread on more than 25 acres of land.
On setting the new IITs in Palakkad (Kerala), Goa, Dharward (Karnataka) and Bhilai (Chhattisgarh) government passed the bill on August 2nd.
