CISCE has made revisions to the pass percentages for the ICSE and ISC exams and as the exams for class 10 and 12 are just few months away the authority has decided to implement the changes from the 2019 academic session.
Under the new rules, the passing percentage for the class 10 will be 33% and for the class 12 it will be 35%. These changes will be introduced from the 2019 academic session and the authority has taken the decision to set the standards at par with the other boards in the country.
'The objective of this is to bring about a close conformity with other Boards in the country,' CISCE said in a notification.
In an official letter, addressed to all the schools affiliated by the council, Chief Executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon has asked to implement the same policy in the internal exams as well from the academic year 2018-19.
'The Council has participated in numerous meetings with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, along with the other Examination Boards of the country and was nominated to be a member of the Inter-Board Working Group (IBWG) to discuss various examination related matters and make recommendations accordingly,' he said.
'Among the many recommendations made by the Inter-Board Working Group (IBWG), it was suggested that all boards in the country should have the same pass mark criteria. In view of this fact, the Council has decided to change its pass mark criteria. The objective of this is to bring about a close uniformity with other Boards in the country,' he further added.
CISCE is working to create unity with other boards in the country on various dimensions such as creating awareness on social media education and tightening the security measures in the schools for the safety of children.
"The safety of all students in our affiliated schools is of utmost importance and concern to the Council. Heads are requested to keep this safety aspect as a priority in their responsibility and duty while administering their respective schools," CISCE Chief Executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon said in a communiqué to the affiliate schools.
