Shocking news for students! Recently high court of Karnataka
felt that people usually ask for revaluation of mark sheet as they feel that
marks should have been different which shouldn't be entertained.
This was observed by Justice H G Ramesh when he dismissed
the plea of Maria Loraine Lydia, a 1st year MBBS student of father Muller's
Medical College, Mangaluru. He said that revaluation should be done when there
is a chance of negligence in calculating the marks or in case of tampering
which is in rare scenarios. Instead of asking for revaluation when another feels
that marks needs to be different.
In this case,
petitioner said that she should have got one mark more which cannot be a reason
for ordering for revaluation, suggested the judge.
Maria Loraine Lydia had asked for revaluation of her answer
sheet of her theory paper -2 of Biochemistry of first year MBBS examination of
RGUHS.
Lydia's counsel stated that in respect of question 9, first
valuer had given 2.5 marks and the second valuer gave zero marks. So, she got
it checked by another valuer (professor and head of department at the Bangalore
Medical College), he gave her 2.5 marks. Due to this, she got one mark less,
31 marks against 32.
