A 15-year-old student, Khusboo Kayastha has been awarded Rs 1 lakh compensation for mistakenly being given lesser marks in one of the subjects in class 10. The decision was made by the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court, where the court asked MP Board of Secondary Education to provide the amount within a month from the date of order i.e. August 23.
The girl who hails from Indore took the high school examination and achieved 80 to 90 plus in every subject except Sanskrit, having secured 24 marks.
"Kayastha had expected to score marks in the same range as the other subjects and as it did not happen, she suffered a great mental agony and also stopped eating" said KPS Suresh, the advocate
Action against evaluator
- After the court instructed for revaluation of the answer sheet, the result made a difference of 60 marks. The court has also asked the board to take action against the evaluator
- The evaluator is prohibited from checking answer-scripts for a period of three years
"While evaluating an answer-sheet, a teacher has to be extremely alert. He cannot afford to forget he is deciding the fate and future of the younger generation. He cannot afford to behave in an asinine manner, which will make the entire valuation process a farce," the judges said, as per leading media daily report.
