The History, Civics and Geography (HCG) exam of the Class 10 the Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE) board was held on March 11.
The geography paper of the pre board exam of Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai held on 9th January was quite similar to the board exam. This made the parents suspicious that it might be a case of paper leak and asked the principals to probe in the matter.
The ICSE had guaranteed the parents to investigate the details. However the statement displayed on the website clearly declares that the re-examination of the geography exam will not be held.
The statement signed by Arathoon and displayed on the website states that," This is to inform you that a preliminary investigation has been conducted by the Council in the matter of the ICSE 2015 Geography examination, and it has been decided that there will be no re-exam. A fact-finding committee shall be constituted to conduct a detailed investigation in the matter."
The statement, however, failed to provide insight to whether the allegation against the principal of a Mahim school was true.
This decision of the Board has discontented the parents and students. About 1.6 lakh students had appeared for the exam and it is unjust for the rest of them. Our education system time and again proves the ambiguities and corruptness of the Institutions.
