DLF Foundation wrapped up its first annual summer camp today amidst much fanfare. The five-day Summer Workshop commenced on June 22nd, 2013 under the aegis of 'DLF Cares Talent Nurturing Programme' for children from Class I to Class XII who are being provided scholarships as well as a variety of talent nurturing facilities by DLF Foundation. A wide array of activities was conducted at the workshop with a holistic approach to learning, fun and excitement, the focus being the all-round development of the Scholars.
While addressing the scholars at the Opening Ceremony of the Weeklong Summer Workshop Lt. Gen Rajender Singh (Retd.), CEO, DLF Foundation said- "DLF Foundation has awarded 367 school scholarships to students in Class I-XII and 93 professional scholarships at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We have found that every child comes with a promise to deliver, a potential to uncover and with a unique story to be told! This program was about helping our children start that journey to discover themselves, find their strengths and be all they are capable of being. Through the various activities we conducted, we were able to invest in our children to help them become a generation that is confident, resilient, motivated and strong in body and mind."
The summer camp sought to create a caring and positive atmosphere to lay the foundation for talent identification and nurturing and at the same time enabling the children to have fun along with an enriching summer experience.
The summer camp organized by DLF Foundation encouraged the participants to indulge into a variety of intellectual and talent discovery sessions which enabled them to understand their potential, interests and capabilities. The sessions were a brilliant mix of intellect, amusement, meditation and counseling. There were art and craft activities, career guidance, professional counseling, fun and entertainment, adventure activities, talent and variety show and many more.
While delivering the inaugural address, Mr. PK Joseph, Associate Director, DLF Foundation said "DLF Cares - Talent Nurturing Program was launched by DLF Foundation to help identify and nurture talent of meritorious underprivileged children by giving them adequate opportunities to realize their potential to the fullest. Talent exists in every individual in diverse fields but gets wasted due to lack of facilities and resources. DLF Foundation through their DLF Care program reaches out to these children from marginalized families enabling them financially and ensuring their overall development through personality development, mentoring, handholding and counseling. DLF Care provides opportunities to children to access quality education in schools with good infrastructure and academic record. The program covers students from class I-XII and also supports meritorious students in the graduate and post-graduate level in fields like IT, engineering, medicine, infrastructure helping them carve out a niche for themselves.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the weeklong summer Workshop, Mrs Meenakshi Singh, Head of Scholar Guidance Cell, DLF Foundation said, "a variety of interactive learning methods and workshops were used in this experiential program - life skills training, storytelling sessions, communication skills, mentoring sessions and art therapy. Since learning in these workshops was experiential, practical and linked to the reality of the child's day to day life, the children learnt not just for the moment but for life. Our goal was not merely a summer camp filled with fun activities, rather it was to be a transformational program, that yes, has the fun element...but with a purpose, meaning and one that started a transformational process of helping each child deliver on the promise of who they are and what they are capable of being!"
Knowing that parents are an integral part of this process, we ensure that we partnered with our parents through the Positive Parenting Workshop, Career Counseling and Mentoring Sessions. This way what the child experienced and learnt in the sessions can be positively reinforced by the parent and this makes the benefits of the program more sustainable, she added.
The response has been positive and we envision carrying our Talent Nurturing Program forward for many more years to come!
DLF Foundation has undertaken many scholarship initiatives, a major module under their flagship programmes to help the less fortunate children continue with their education at par with other students and make a mark for themselves. DLF Foundation has managed to enhance many lives, one exemplary example being of a student named Raju, a bright boy coming from a shambolic society and a very poor family. DLF Foundation picked him up from the slum school he used to attend, admitted him in a good school and provided him scholarship, changing his path in a brighter direction. There are many more such lives that DLF Foundation has revived and the numbers of students benefitted by the scholarship programs are a total of 367 school scholarships and 93 professional scholarships. DLF Foundation provides scholarships to students in Class I-XII, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels.
