In terms of infrastructure and resources it is not possible for the government to make NCC training compulsory at school and college level.
Defense minister Manohar Parrikar said during Question Hour that if it is made compulsory, then nearly 4 crore youth will have to be trained against the 13 lakh being trained now.
In a written response he said "Suggestions have been received from various sources for making NCC training compulsory for school and college students. However, it has not been found feasible in terms of requirement of infrastructure, manpower and resources."
