The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said "it will ease the difficulty level of class 12 mathematics paper from the next year, after this year's tough question had forced many students to weep and to score less marks."
New pattern Proposed by CBSE
Math paper pattern of class 12th will be reviewed and short-answer type questions carrying 2 marks will be introduced in the paper which will ultimately reduce the controversial high thinking questions.
HOTS will carry 10 marks
HOTS (The higher- order thinking skills) questions will carry 10 marks and will be divided into two sections: six-marks and four- marks.
The decision was welcomed by the teacher and they said "the HOTS questions were responsible for raising the difficulty level of the paper."
A maths teacher at Mumbai's Santacruz school said, "HOTS questions are tricky and for the past two years, they have been exceptionally tough. It is good that they will be restricted to only 10 per cent now."
The teachers said, short-answer type questions will make the paper easier, "Shorter questions require less time to solve and will help students in completing the paper on time."
