One of the major news reports running on the national media today was the resignation of IIT Delhi's Director, allegedly under the pressure of Central Government.
In reaction to this, the central HRD Ministry has come out with a clarification which goes as follows "“
- According to the Ministry, the report is inaccurate and falsely drags the Ministry into this issue.
- No official request either from Sachin Tendulkar or the HRD Ministry has been made to the IIT to provide their Cricket ground for the purpose of opening a Cricket academy.
- The central HRD Ministry has not conveyed any request from Mr. Swamy to IIT regarding the payment of his arrears. The Finance Ministry and the DoPT have been asked to put forward their views in this matter.
- The resignation of the director was forwarded by the Chairman on 26th December for the consideration of the appointing authority. Only the authority has the mandate to accept the resignation. The resignation would have to be approved by the President in his capacity as the Visitor of IIT-Delhi.
