CBSE has decided to expand the scope of 're-evaluation system' by including further subjects under the mechanism. It is also contemplating a rule under which more than 10 answers will be checked per paper during re-evaluation. Presently, CBSE allows only 10 questions to be re-evaluated. As many as seven papers of class XII presently come under the scope of re-evaluation.
According to the CBSE, this will be first implemented for the 2014 class XII batch and would be extended further if it shows a positive result. The CBSE official further added that "As of now, it is available only for English, Hindi, physics, chemistry, mathematics, political science and economics. Also, not all answers can be rechecked. A final decision is yet to be taken and the announcement is likely before the start of the 2015 Board exams."
Other subjects that would most probably be included under the re-evaluation umbrella are Business studies, History, Geography and Accountancy. Until the year 2013, the unsatisfied students could only opt for the re-totalling of marks allotted in each answer written by the student. However, last year the CBSE amended its rules by providing the students with a copy of their answer sheet along with giving them an option to go for re-evaluation of their answers. Moreover, the students can also pin point the specific answer that they want to get re-evaluated. For the ease of students, the entire process can be facilitated online.
The final decisions shall be updated on CBSE's website before the 2015 results come out.
