One of the oldest Universities in the country, the Allahabad University is turning over a new leaf in its history. The AU, as it is fondly called, will offer distance learning courses starting from the 2016-17 session. In order to ensure a proper implementation, the University has gone ahead to appoint 4 faculty members to function as the deputy directors in the DDE (Directorate of Distance Education).
The newly appointed Deputy Directors include Prof AR Siddiqui (Geography), Jai Shankar Singh (Law), Suneet Dwivedi (KBCAOS or K Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies) and RK Singh (Commerce). Another new appointment is of Prof Dhananjay Yadav of the education department who would now act as the Director of DDE.
According to the officials of the AU, these appointments have been based on the recommendations of the committee formed for this purpose.
The committee consisted of 10 members, viz. Pratibha Upadhyaya, SP Gupta, UPRTOU, Allahabad as external member, PK Sahoo (Education), RK Chaubey (Law), RK Singh, Professor-in-charge (Academics), AC Pandey, Director, IIDS and ICT Cell, head, Education department, AK Malviya (Commerce), Anil Shukla, Education department, Lucknow University as external member and director, DDE, AU. The committee was headed by the Vice Chancellor of the University.
The Director of DDE will serve as the director of the academic program committee. Other faculties have also been appointed on different posts.
