Offering a relief to the students of class 10, CBSE has decided to relax the mandatory pass marks criteria for class 10 students. According to the official notification from the board, the board has decided to implement the 33% (overall) as the pass marks criteria for this batch only.
It is a one time and board said that they have decided so because "this batch is from a different assessment background while they were in class 9".
The news has brought a great relief to the students who soon will be appearing for the class 10 exams. The norm is also applicable for the additional subjects which comprise of internal assessment and external exam.
The decision to restore the class 10 board exams was announced by the CBSE on 30 January 2017 after seven long years.
"The examination committee of the board in its meeting held on February 16 after considering the circumstances and the facts that the current batch of class X (2018) is coming from a different assessment background while they were in class IX (in 2017) resolved to approve the following for this batch as a one-time measure," reads the official notification.
