Vijender Gupta, the leader of opposition, claimed that all the steps taken by the AAP government to uplift the education in Delhi are nothing more than twaddle and that in real the number of students enrolling in class X and XII in Delhi schools have decreased.
Claiming that all the talks by the AAP government are false he asked a government to submit a white paper about their claims of success which were made by the deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia has said that the AAP government is working tirelessly to create an environment which is facilitative for the education. "The truth, however, is that since the past two-and- a-half years of AAP government in power, the condition of government schools has been continuously deteriorating."
Gupta also cited the data from the education department and according to the data, in 2013-14, 1,66,257 students appeared for the class XII exams and 1,21,681 in the year 2016-17. Similarly, 1,80,203 students appeared for the class X exam and 1,55,263 in 2016-17.
He asked why is there a "continuous decline in the number of students enrolled," despite sisodia saying that government has doubled the education budget and building new rooms. Gupta also pointed to the fact that out of promised 500 new schools not even a single new school has been commissioned by the AAP government in all these years of being in power.
