Aadhaar enrolment drive for nearly 14 lakh students of the state Jammu and Kashmir has been started by the state government. The enrolment center was inaugurated by the state's education minister Altaf Bukhari at Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary School.
Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Abdul Rashid War said that nearly 14 lakh students of the state are yet to be enrolled for the biometric identity.
Abdul Rashid War said "Aadhaar enrolment centers have been set up in Phase-1 in six districts of the state which includes Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Dodha, Kishtwar and Samba. The rest of the districts will be covered in Phase-2 for which the necessary equipment, machinery and other measures are being undertaken".
Officials said that through the enrolment process teachers and their families who have not availed the Aadhaar facility can be covered as well.
