In order to drive thought leadership and for impacting the
Indian defense sector, the Indian School of Business (ISB) and Strategy& (a
part of PwC network) have entered into a partnership to set up an industry
think-tank.
Recently, in ISB National Conclave in New Delhi, an
agreement to this effect was entered.
Pradeep Singh, CEO, Deputy Dean ISB said that the main
agenda of this partnership is to bring together the academic rigor at ISB and market
insight from Strategy& so that access to ground-breaking research and
analysis of key issues to industry can be provided. This would be against the
Make in India and thrust on local aerospace and defense production policy of Government
of India.
The Indian defense capital expenditure is estimated to
increase by 8-10% annually till 2020 as per an estimate by Strategy&. This
is with the scope for private sector expanding significantly across the tiered
value chain.
The main focus of think tank would be engaging government
policy and Indian companies on strategy, go-to-market approaches which would
include large corporate seeking to grow their defense revenue, foreign players
looking to credibly enter the Indian landscape, and MSMEs wanting to play an
increasing role in the defense value chain. Through its flagship event InDeCap,
as well as workshops and round table discussions, it will provide a platform for
various players in the sector to get together to discuss burning issues.
