The state government spokesman said "A staggering Rs 267.30 crore will be distributed among 89,100 meritorious girl students in Uttar Pradesh under the amended Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme."
Cheques of Rs 30000 will be given to the each girl student who has excelled in intermediate or equivalent state exam.
On August 16-17 the programs will be held in this regard at district and tehsil headquarters by the district magistrates and district inspector of schools.
The scheme in its early days was only meant for the UP board students but later was amended by the Samajwadi Party government to include meritorious passouts of Class XII from:
