A four month long placement drive was started on December 1, 2014 and ended on March 31 in IIT Kanpur. Out of the total of 1090 students about 85% that is around 900 students have been placed.
The institute's placement in charge Prof Deepu Philip informed that lots of students were placed in top MNCs in the initial month only. More than 100 students had been placed in the first three days of the drive itself.
Others had received the job letters in the second season. It started in January and concluded in March.
Out of the Remaining students 100 have planned to go for civil services and another 100 went in for public sector companies. Everyone got something or the other.
The placement office of the institute said that it was exceptionally notable the placement rate. The drive was very successful as it set a new record as it not only the placement rate increased but also remarkable packages were offered to the students.
One distinguishable thing was that four students declined high salary packages of 1.5 lakh dollars that sums to be Rs 93 lakh as the jobs offered were offshore. These students were offered many other remunerations and bonds that increased the value of the package, but surprisingly they refused.

The students who were pursuing dual degrees of B.tech and M.Tech along with the ones from computer science, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electrical engineering departments were highly sought after.
