Mathematics has always been known to be a dreaded subject for students at all the levels. This year's results proved the same. While mathematics accounted for the highest number of failed students in the current year's class X board exams, English - which is a discretionary subject - came a nearby second with more than 40.86% students turning into a setback of the subject.
GSHSEB authorities said that out of the 8.78 lakh students who showed up in SSC examination this year, 3.59 lakh had fizzled. Interestingly Sanskrit, which is generally the best choice for students looking to score high marks, likewise saw 32.43% failure rate in it this year.
Of the 6.95 lakh students who settled on Sanskrit, 2.25 lakh have fizzled. What has compounded an already painful situation is that a remarkable 26.63% examinees in Gujarati language.
Out of the 8.51 lakh students who had specified Gujarati as their primary language, 2.27 lakh have fizzled.
